Northwest Track & Field teams find success in Northwest Open

The Northwest Track & Field teams hosted the Northwest Open this past weekend at the new Hughes Field House.  Many teams competed and both men and women on the Northwest teams placed in various events.  The women met more success in the field events while the men's team found more success in the track events.

Hiba Mahgoub was victorious by running a 58.71 in the 400m dash.  She brought home the first Northwest victory of the day. Addie Palser placed second in the 600 yard run (1:27.84).  In the 4x400m relay, the Northwest women finished with a time of 3:54.8 earning them a second place finish.

For the Northwest men, there were two top five finishers in the men's 60m dash: Caelon Harkey placed fifth (6.984) and Omar Austin placed fourth (6.983). The 600 yd. run also featured two top five finishers for the Bearcats: Seth Shurvington placed fifth (1:14.55) and Abdelrahim Mahgoub placed fourth (1:13.75). Collin Welch placed third in the 800m run with a time of 1:54.31. The Northwest 4x400m men's relay team finished in first place with a time of 3:16.62.  

Marcus Klein leaped 23-04.5 to provisionally qualify for the national meet and place third, and Kevin Schultz placed fourth with a jump of 23-01.25.
