Less than two months out from the first regular season game of 2019, Northwest Missouri State football is receiving national attention as expectations continue to rise.

The Bearcats were picked seventh in the College Football America Yearbook Division 2 Preseason Top 30.

Fort Hays State is the only other MIAA school in the ranking at No. 14.

Valdosta State, the defending national champion, sits in the top spot of the poll. The Blazers are followed by Ferris State, Lenoir-Rhyne, Notre Dame (OH), Minnesota State and Ouachita Baptist at No. 2 through No. 6, respectively.

The Bearcats are coming off a 10-win 2018 campaign that saw the program reach the playoffs for the 15th year in a row, and beat rival Grand Valley State in the first round.

Northwest opens the season September 5 at Missouri Western. The first home game in Maryville is scheduled for September 14 against Washburn.

The 2019 College Football America Yearbook features more than 930 college football teams from the United States and Canada in more than 250 striking, full-color pages. That includes every team from the NCAA (FBS, FCS, Division II and Division III), NAIA, NJCAA, CCCAA and U Sports (Canada). It also includes updates on club football, one-year postgraduate prep/sports academies and Mexican college football, along with dozens of action shots and stadium photos taken by the CFAY staff.

The print edition is available online via Amazon.com and other major retailers such as Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million.
