Clash of Champions: Northwest meets Duke in October

For the second time in program history, Northwest Missouri State men's basketball will meet Duke University in the legendary Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Northwest Missouri State University Athletics announced Thursday afternoon that the Bearcats and Blue Devils will meet on October 26 in Durham, NC with the time to be announced at a later date.

Duke and head coach Mike Krzyzewski invite the defending NCAA Division 2 National Champ to play the Blue Devils in an exhibition game at Cameron Indoor each year. Northwest made its first trip to Duke in October 2017 after winning the 2016-17 title.

Northwest took the lead in the early minutes of the first matchup on a Chris-Ebou Ndow three-pointer, but Duke went on to win 93-60.

"We are so excited to be able to send Coach Mac and the team back to Durham," Director of Athletics Andy Peterson said in a release. "Obviously, we have a great respect and admiration for Coach Krzyzewski and their program. This game is a testament to who he is as an ambassador for the game to invite the Division II national champion to Cameron Indoor Stadium every year. We are fortunate to be able to visit again and look forward to the opportunity to play the Blue Devils on their home court."

The Bearcats posted an unblemished 38-0 record on the way to the program's second national championship last March. Head coach Ben McCollum's built a formidable program with a 100-5 record over the last three seasons.
