Those affected by storms and flooding can still appeal to FEMA

Applicants who disagree with their Federal Emergency Management Agency decision letter for federal assistance for the April 29th through July 5th storms and flooding in Missouri may want to appeal.

Spokesperson for FEMA, Angela Byrd, says to focus on the letter received when trying to appeal.

"Basically refer to their letter.  When they receive a letter that shows they are ineligible to make sure they read the entire letter thoroughly because there could be some missing documentation that's needed."

Byrd adds when trying to appeal new documentation may be needed.

"When they go online to disasterassistance.gov, they can upload that they can file to appeal and include any additional documentation that maybe was not collected when they first applied for assistance that may be required now."

Free legal assistance is available to those who need help when trying appeal.
