Fairfax woman loses life in car accident

A Fairfax woman is dead after a one vehicle accident outside of Fairfax.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, 54-year-old Nancy Cherry was headed southbound on US Route 59, two miles south of Fairfax when her car began skidding, went across the center line and off the east side of the roadway. The driver's side of the vehicle struck an embankment, overturned and ejected Cherry. The vehicle came to a rest facing north on the east side of US Route 56. Cherry was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash was investigated by the Missouri Highway Patrol, Tarkio Fire Department, Atchison Holt Ambulance District, Tarkio Police Department, and the Atchison County Sheriff's Department.
