YWCA hosts 18th Women of Excellence Luncheon

The YWCA in St. Joseph will be hosting their 18th Women of Excellence Awards Luncheon in June. C.E.O. of YWCA Tammy Killin says the event honors the women in the community who make a difference in the lives of others.

" From February that we started accepting nominees and providing the information.  And then we have judges, anonymous, that we have selected from our community.  And we have a very specific rubric that they utilize to determine from six categories.  And then we also had two lifetime achievement awardees.  That was Jo Eyberg and Carol Meyers, and then our Y-woman of Merit was Linda Judah."

Killin says that those looking to support the luncheon can do so by sponsoring the event.

"We have a challenge by Steve Craig who has been a great supporter of the YWCA and every year he pushes us a little bit more.  And this year his goal is for us to reach 50,000 and he will match the first 50,000."

The events is set for Thurday, June 20th at the Civic Arena in downtown St. Joseph from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
