South Nodaway Board discusses storm shelter and grounds upkeep

The South Nodaway Board of Education met earlier this week to discuss taking care of maintenance upkeep of school grounds during the summer months. Superintendent for the South Nodaway School District, Johnie Silkett, says one of those projects will be the Guilford Sports Complex which serves as a storm shelter.

"We're trying to complete it.  Putting in rails, putting in safety strips for the stairs.  Putting in a thump-pump because it's such a low elevation.  We have ground water coming in so we'll be putting in a permanent thump-pump also in there.  Finishing up the interior walls, paint."

Silkett says the board approved the Missouri Health and SDAC agreements.

"Basically claiming Medicaid on students that we service and SDAC is the method we use,...... the technology that we use to get that."

The next board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 20 at 7 p.m.
