The spring semester at Northwest Missouri State University concluded Saturday with the annual Commencement Ceremonies for graduates. Northwest President Dr. John Jasinski says there were a lot of highlights to the past academic year.

"Enrollment that was just off the charts.  That seems so long ago.  But we don't just enroll, we have record retention rates.  We're graduating an all-time record number of Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats.  So don't just enroll, get them to retain and graduate."

Jasinski says there are several things he hopes graduates were able to take from Saturday's commencement.

"Commencement is a beginning...We're very happy.  Thanks so much for being Bearcats but this is just the beginning, so go forth, lead the Bearcat way, better your communities, better society, and focus on life-long learning.  Be a Bearcat: learn, connect, care, practice civility, show pride."

A record one thousand sixty-two degrees were awarded during the weekend's commencement ceremonies at Northwest.
