Nebraska Public Power District honored for outstanding safety performance

The Nebraska Public Power District has been honored for outstanding safety performance. Each year the National Safety Council, Nebraska Chapter recognizes several Nebraska companies for their safety intiatives and performance with the NPPD among the companies being honored. Media Relations Specialist for NPPD, Grant Otten, says NPPD is proud to put safety first in the work place.

"It shows the reliability in patience and care our employees and teammates take and our colleagues take to make sure that their fellow colleagues are safe and that they go home safe at night.  It's just a testament to that daily work and making sure everyone is doing their job properly."

Otten says communication has been a key factor in encouraging safety.

"Not being afraid to have a questioning attitude asking if someone is doing something and you're not sure if the procedure or the method you're using or doing is correct.  Just questioning that process and being willing to speak up and ask each other, Hey, are you sure we should do it like this?  Maybe we should look at a different way to perform this task. "

The NPPD along with many other Nebraska companies were recognized on May 15 during the 36th Annual Celebration of Safety Luncheon.
