Hopkins man found guilty of child molestation

A 42-year-old Hopkins, Missouri resident was found guilty on four felony counts of child molestation by a Nodaway County jury this morning. Nodaway County Prosecuting Attorney Robert Rice says Jerry Lee VanPelt was charged in connection with incidents which occurred from 2013 through 2018.

"Of those four counts that VanPelt was found guilty of it involved three girls all of a variety of ages."

 Sentencing for VanPelt is scheduled for July 2nd at three o'clock.  The maximum sentence for those charges is 53 years.  VanPelt remains in custody in the Nodaway County Jail.
