Flash Flood Warnings issued for areas near the Nodaway, 102, Tarkio, and Missouri Rivers

The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill has issued several flood warnings due to the rain the region is experiencing. They include the Nodaway River near Burlington Junction affecting Nodaway, Andrew and Holt Counties. The 102 River at Maryville affecting Nodaway and Andrew Counties. The 102 River at Rosendale affecting Andrew and Buchanan Counties. The Tarkio River at Fairfax affecting Atchison and Holt Counties.
A flood warning is also in affect for the Missouri River from near Blair, Nebraska north of Omaha through St. Joseph, Missouri affecting all counties downstream including Harrison and Washington Counties, Fremont and Otoe Counties, Atchison and Nemaha Counties, Holt and Richardson Counties, & Doniphan, Andrew and Buchanan Counties.
The National Weather Service urges motorists to not drive through flowing water. Nearly half of all flood fatalities are vehicle related. As little as six inches of water may cause motorists to lose control of their vehicles. Two feet of water will carry most vehicles away.
