Albany Board approved trash removal charge increase

The Albany Board of Alderman met earlier this week.  Highlighting the agenda was discussion concerning the city's trash removal service.  City Administrator Derrick Brown says the Board approved an increase in the monthly service charge for city residents.

"We contract with a vendor for residential curbside garbage collection once a week.  That agreement was recently extended for three additional years with a small increase in that cost.  So the retail rate was adjusted accordingly.  So our retail rate went from $11.20 per month to the new rate of $12 per month, so an 80 cent increase."

The Albany Board of Alderman next meeting is set for June 4th at 5 pm.
