17-year-old St. Joseph student charged with terrorist threat

A St. Joseph area student is facing a felony charge of making a terrorist threat after an online message threatening violence affected several schools. 17-year-old Andrew Lemon was charged Tuesday in adult court. A message posted Sunday on SnapChat allegedly said the sender planned to shoot "any kid in sight" and used racial slurs. Authorities say Lemon told them he didn't mean to harm anyone and "was just being stupid." Benton, Central and Lafayette High Schools in addition to Bode and Truman Middle Schools and Mark Twain elementary school in St. Joseph, along with Savannah High School and Hillyard Technical Center either increased security or were put on soft lockdown, which means students can attend classes but are not allowed outside. The lockdown lasted about three hours on Monday.
