Worth County man arrested for kidnapping, sexual trafficking of a child and sodomy

The Missouri Highway Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control has announced the arrest of a 65-year-old Worth County man for kidnapping, sexual trafficking of a child and sodomy. According to a report from the Missouri Highway Patrol, Austin-E. Myers of Denver, Missouri was arrested following a joint investigation of the Worth County Sheriff's Department, Columbia County, Georgia Sheriff's Department, the Missouri Highway Patrol, The Nodaway County Juvenile Office and the assistance of the Voices of Courage Child Advocacy Center in St. Joseph.
Last Wednesday, the Worth County Sheriff's Office was informed of the possible location of a "runaway" juvenile from her home in Columbia County, Georgia and was at a residence in Worth, County. Worth County deputies and a Missouri Highway Patrol trooper made contact with Myers and the youth from Georgia at Myers' home in Worth County. An interview with the juvenile indicated the individual was not at Myers' residence willingly. A search warrant of his home in Denver, Missouri resulted in the seizure of computer equipment believed to be used during the crimes.
The Worth County Prosecuting Attorney's office formally charged the 65-year-old Myers with first degree kidnapping, second degree sexual trafficking of a child and first-degree sodomy. Myers' bond was set at 125 thousand dollars and he is currently being held at the Ringold County Jail in Mount Ayr, Iowa.
