Senators pushing to prioritize flood control

In the wake of the severe flooding, Missouri District 12 State Senator Dan Hegeman and District 34 State Senator Tony Luetkemeyer are hoping to alleviate future flooding problems in northwest Missouri. Senator Hegeman spoke on the senate floor last week urging the U.S. Army Corps of Enginners to reprioritize flood control in their management of the Missouri River.

"What this resolution does is basically asks the Corps once again to consider changing the master manual once again to give great emphasis to flood control and also the personal/private property and people's lives that are impacted by the floodwaters that we're experiencing right now."

Senator Dan Hegeman added Northwest Missouri has been devasted by these floods - floods that he believes were directly exacerbated by what he calls misguided Corps policy.
