A former South Nodaway basketball player and current member of the Northwest Missouri State University women's basketball team gets an opportunity to travel to Spain this summer. Mallory McConkey from Guilford, Missouri says she's looking forward to the opportunity to travel as well as play basketball this summer.

"I haven't been to Europe.  I'm really excited to just being able to play more basketball during the summer and being able to learn through that.  Then the cultural stuff, I'm pretty excited about going to see the different cities and stuff."

According to McConkey's coach at Northwest, Austin Meyer, an organization called Beyond Basketball is organizing the trip featuring college basketball players.

"It's an 11 day tour in Spain, Madrid, Barcelona, so it's going to be a real fun event.  I'm not totally sure of who all is going to be in there with her yet, but obviously it'll be kids - it'll be real good players.  Kids that they've researched and so it's going to give her a chance to meet new people, develop some relationships, and obviously have an experience of a lifetime at this point in her life as a sophomore in college.  It's pretty cool."

McConkey leaves for Spain on June 3rd from Chicago and will play 4 games during their 11 day stay in Spain.
