Kids Heart Challenge raised awareness and donations

The American Heart Association recently raised healthy heart awareness and donations through their Kids Heart Challenge. The Kids Heart Challenge teaches students to learn how to take care of their hearts through fun activities like sports, dance, and obstacle courses and classroom activities on heart health. Encouraging students to take on the challenge that will hopefully develop into lifelong habits and inspiring others in their community. Spokesperson for the American Heart Association, Stephanie Jones, says events like these are made possible by local volunteers.

"We call them Kids Heart Challenge Leaders.  They are people who take the time to really really put the focus on teaching the students how to take care of their heart, about our mission to help fund research to fight heart disease.  And they are very special to us."

Jones says, with their 40th anniversary in schools, that it was important to recognize the local volunteers in our area.

"Kayla Bremen at St. Gregory's School and she has been a leader for Kids Heart Challege for seven years.  She's done a really amazing job with her kiddos.  And Amanda Campbell, she's in Worth County Elementary up in Grant City for the amount of donations that they raised this year.  It was $4480 which was a really big amount for their little tiny school."
