EnergyWise incentives to help those affected by flooding in Nebraska

Nebraska Public Power District and its participating wholesales customers will be increasing three residential EnergyWise incentives, to help those affected by recent historic and devastating flooding. Media Relations Specialist for Nebraska Public Power District Grant Otten says after the recent floods, many Nebraska residents have gone into a rebuilding mode.

"The energy efficiency team got together and they were trying to figure out a way that Nebraska Public Power District could help customers and people in that area who are in the rebuilding process.  And what they came up with was increasing certain incentive programs which include the high efficiency heat pump program, the heat pump water heater program and the cooling tune up program.  So they're increasing those by approximately 33% through the end of the year, December 31, 2019, so customers have a chance to maybe get a little saving."

Otten adds the Energy Wise incentives will help out Nebraska residents in several ways.

"If they need to get a new heat pump, they can go on and check out the application, send it in, and they might qualify to get some assistance or some money back on that specific heat pump that they're trying to purchase.  So it makes it a little more affordable.  So hopefully those people can use those dollars to spend on something else that they are trying to fix up in the house.  Or just straight up save some of that money that they weren't planning on spending  in the first place."
