Mount Ayr FFA selected for decorating competition

The Mount Ayr, Iowa FFA Chapter has been selected to participate in a statue decorating competition.
Mount Ayr is one of 15 FFA chapters selected to take part in the Pioneer Brand A-Series Soybeans Big A Challenge. Mount Ayr and other FFA chapters submitted an essay that highlighted the benefit of A-Series Soybeans and a design of their statue. They were then selected to actually decorate a seven foot Big A statue to be judged at the 2019 Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Illinois. The top three statues will be awarded prize money. Marketing and Communications manager with Pioneer, Carrie Jorgensen, says the challenge is a good way for ag students to get creative.

"Pioneer is really excited to collaborate with the Mount Ayr FFA chapter.  We think it's a great opportunity for th students who generally in agriculture, they are more focused on science.  We think it's a great opportunity to flex their creative muscles in terms of who they are going to decorate this Big A statue.  We're excited to be working with them."

The Big A Challenge debuted at last year's Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa. Jorgensen says she was impressed with this years entries.

"We're really excited by the number of chapters that applied to be in this competition and the quality -outstanding, very competitive and challenged so far.  We're very excited that Mount Ayr made it this far and we're really excited to see their final design early this summer."

The 15 statues will be on display and judged at the 2019 Farm Progress Show August 27th through the 29th in Decatur, Illinois.  In addition to the judging at the Farm Progress Show, there will be a public vote for a People's Choice Award on the Pioneer Facebook and Twitter pages.
