After playing the Division II National Championship in Kansas City each of the last four seasons, the NCAA is being forced to uproot the game this December.

The NCAA said in a release this afternoon that "the 2018-22 championship games were awarded to Children's Mercy Park, the home field of Major League Soccer's Sporting Kansas City, but field renovations will prohibit the game from being played this December."

Bids for the championship game slated for December 15 are being accepted through "Monday, September 17 with a new site being rewarded shortly after."

Bids for the title from 2019 through 2021 will also be accepted at a later date.

Northwest Missouri State University is 2-0 in games played at Children's Mercy Park. The Bearcats beat Shepherd 34-7 in the 2015 championship, and took home the title again in 2016 with a 29-3 victory.
