Two former Bearcats selected for MIAA Hall of Fame

Among the 11 legends selected for the 2018 MIAA Hall of Fame Class, two etched their names in the record books as Northwest Missouri State Bearcats.

Former football player Xavier Omon and former women's tennis player Yasmine Osborn will be inducted into the conference's hall of fame June 4 in the Truman Forum Auditorium at the Kansas City Public Library -- Plaza Branch.

Omon, a running back from Beatrice, NE, still holds the MIAA career rushing record with 7,073 yards. He also holds conference marks for season rush attempts (370 in 2007), and career rush attempts (1,271). He's also second in conference history with 2,337 rush yards in 2007. Omon was also a three-time 1st Team All-MIAA selection, and led Northwest to three NCAA Division 2 National Championship appearances during his career.

Osborn played tennis at Northwest from 1997-1999, and made her mark in her first year in the MIAA winning the conference's No. 1 singles championship, she also pulled in 27 singles wins and 28 doubles victories as a sophomore. She repeated that performance again in 1998. The Lenexa, KS native also earned All-America status in 1998 after winning 22 singles matches. The Bearcats advanced to the NCAA Division 2 National Tournament in each of the three seasons she played.
