After a stand out campaign in her first season at Northwest, Jaelyn Haggard received a big honor from the conference coaches Monday afternoon.
Haggard was named MIAA co-Freshman of the Year as the all-conference teams were released. Central Oklahoma's JoNah Johnson also received co-freshman of the year honors.
Haggard is the first Bearcat women's basketball player to win the award.
During the 2017-18 season, the St. Joseph native averaged 13 points, 2.5 assists and 1.6 rebounds per game. She also shot 36.1-percent from beyond the arc, and finished second in the conference in three-point field goals per game (2.4).
Haggard joined teammate Tanya Meyer on the All-MIAA Honorable Mention team. Meyer scored 1,446 points and grabbed 694 rebounds throughout her career at Northwest.
