New vision launched for the Leadership Maryville Program

The Greater Maryville Chamber of Commerce has launched a new vision for its Leadership Maryville Program as it enters its 33rd year. The program includes an all-day retreat on October 2, followed by one half-day class a month through early spring. These classes will be centered around core aspects of the community, economic development, and education. Executive director of the Maryville Chamber of Commerce Lily White says the program is continuing education for adults.

"It's a program that started in 1986 under the Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Mizzou Extension that's in our county.  It is to connect emerging and existing leaders to things going on in our community and then help educate them on different things such as government, safety, and health insurance - all kinds of things that are every day business conversations."

White adds the program is good experience for anyone who is interested in serving on a board.

"This year with the new revamp, we're really encouraging anyone that hasn't been through the program yet - existing leaders, new people in town, emerging leaders.  If you're interested in being on a board in our area, which there are several, several boards.  Even if you're just interested in connecting with the community, we'd love to have you join us."
