Windstream telephone and internet service restored in Albany, Mo.

Albany, MO. landline phone service is back up after an outage affected the community most of Wednesday.

According to Vice-President of Corporate Affairs with Windstream David Avery, approximately 1,500 telephone and internet customers of Windstream had their service disrupted due to a cut fiber optic cable.

The outage was caused by a homeowner digging a post hole near the driveway of his home. Avery says Albany customers were able to make local calls but could not make long distance calls or access the internet.

The outage began around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and service was restored around midnight.
