The Missouri Department of Transportation is encouraging safe driving practices with a new statewide initiative.
Titled "Buckle Up, Phone Down," the initiative strives to teach the importance of limiting distractions and wearing a seat belt when driving, no matter the distance. Senior Communications Specialist Marcia Johnson says the seatbelt alone saves lives. Johnson says MoDOT officials are leading the way by banning cell phone usage and mandating seat belts in all agency vehicles. She adds businesses and individuals can get involved with the initiative online.
