Clarinda City Council recap

The Clarinda City Council met in regular session Wednesday evening.

The NSK Backup Water Supply bid was the highlight of the agenda, with a public hearing, resolution for plans, and bid award all taking place during the meeting. The project is set to benefit NSK Manufacturing, but city manager Gary McClarnon says the backup water supply can also benefit the city at large. The project started two years ago, when NSK asked the Council for a backup water supply to ensure the water sprinklers always had water in case of a fire.

Additionally, the Council discussed the Clarinda Downtown Facade Rehabilitation Project, which McClarnon says should be officially underway soon. The pay request approved at the meeting was worth $10,640. The Council also approved the annual clean-up days, an outdoor event at Clarinda City Park on April 20, and completed the budget certification process.
