Two arrested in Andrew County for assault, armed criminal action and other charges

On Wednesday morning, the Andrew County Sheriff's department apprehended a Nebraska man with numerous warrants for his arrest.

According to a release from the Andrew County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 2:55 a.m., Wednesday, Andrew County 911 dispatchers received a call of a possible shooting incident that had just occured on the 200 block of West Kenyon Street in Fillmore.

The caller, unidentified by the release, had stated that an unknown female had knocked on his front door saying she was lost and asked to use the phone. According to the release, the male victim handed the unknown female a cordless phone through the front door to make her call and noticed a man standing off the side of the porch with a long gun in his hand.

The male victim then shut and locked the front door, at which time the unknown man came onto the front porch and tried to kick the door open.

The man's attempts to kick down the door failed and he fired one round from the long gun, later identified as a .410 shotgun, through the front window, just missing the victim and causing damage to the home. The unknown male and female immediately ran from the scene.

Deputies from the Andrew County Sheriff's Office arrived 14 minutes later to check the outside area around the victim's home. During the search, the deputies found a white female, later identified as 49-year-old Tami S. Miller of Tekamah, Neb., hiding in the bushes.

After further investigation, the male suspect, 22-year-old Alexander Farrens of Omaha, Neb. was located at a residence in Graham and taken into custody with the assistance of the Nodaway County Sheriff's Office.

No one was injured and the investigation into the incident continues.

Both Farrens and Miller are being held at the Andrew County Jail without bond, and both have been charged with numerous felony counts each, to include but not limited to: assault in the first degree, discharging a weapon into a habitable structure, armed criminal action, attempted burglary in the first degree, unlawful use of weapon charges, and fugitive from out of state.
