Hopkins Barn Quilt Fest this weekend

The annual Hopkins Barn Quilt Festival takes place this weekend. The festival is set to take place Saturday and Sunday at the Hopkins City park. The event features a flea market, quilt tours, a hayride, vendors and a performance from Jason Forney on Sunday. The Barn Quilt movement started in Ohio in the early 2000s and has grown across the country since. Quilt painter Sandi Lawson says Hopkins is one of the leaders in the movement in the area.

Festival attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for the hayride. A rain date has been set for September 24.
