Memorial Day Service Has Large Turnout

The parking lots were full yesterday at the American Legion Post 100 Building in Maryville.

People gathered to attend the 2014 Nodaway County Memorial Day Observance. The special guest speaker at this year's observance was Major General Wayne Pierson. He is a retired veteran out of the US Army National Guard. During his speech, Peirson emphasized the true meaning of Memorial Day.

Pierson says being asked to speak at the ceremony was a tremendous honor.

Following the ceremony people attended a luncheon hosted by Post 100.
