Summer travel on Interstate 35 in Northwest Missouri could be slower than normal.
The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced it will begin a resurfacing project on the interstate today. The work will close one lane of southbound I-35 in two to five mile sections between Winston and Cameron. A different lane may be closed each day.
Travelers are advised to be alert and follow all construction signs and message boards. Contractors will begin the work near Winston and move south with milling and resurfacing. One lane of traffic will remain open but the highway department says motorists may experience delays.
Construction is planned Monday through Saturday each week during daylight hours. Occasional work on Sundays or nights may be necessary. Work on the interstate is expected to be complete by July 1, 2014.
