Reach Out And Read

Spreading to all 50 states, a literacy awareness program reaches in Maryville.
The Reach Out and Read program promotes early literacy and school readiness in pediatric exam rooms.
Assistant Professor in the Department of Professional Education at Northwest Missouri State, Pradnya Patet, says as part of the Reach Out and Read program, St Francis medical providers will give books to children during "well child checks".

Along with donations for books, Patet says the community will have Family Literacy Nights with the first one scheduled for tonight.

The first Family Literacy Night will kick-off at 5:30 p.m. this evening at the College Park Pavillion.
