Farm Bill Provides Disaster Assistance

Area farmers will be able to sign up for disaster assistance programs next week under the new Farm Bill.
Farmers may begin signing up Tuesday, April 15, 2014.
There are many programs which farmers can sign up for. Nodaway Farm Service Agency Director, Tim Drier, says one of the programs is known  as the Livestock Forage Disaster Program.

Drier adds farmers should be eligible due to drought conditions.
Enrollment will also begin on Tuesday for producers who also suffered losses covered by the Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees, and Farm-Raised fish Program.
You may also enroll if you were covered under the Tree Assistance Program.
