Spring Turkey Season

Hunters in Missouri are gearing up for Spring turkey season next month.
There are two sessions during the Spring turkey season. The first is youth only which runs from April 12-13 2014, while the regular season is three weeks long and begins April 21, 2014 and runs through May 11, 2014.
Atchison County Conservation Agent, Eric Abbott says he expects a good outlook for this years season.

Abbott says safety is the most important aspect of any hunting season.
He adds the biggest safety issue during turkey season is hunters properly identifying their target before they shoot.

Abbott also suggests hunters should wear an orange vest while walking in and out of the woods.
Hunting hours for the youth portion are a half hour before sunrise until sunset.
During the regular season, hunters can hunt from a half hour before sunrise until 1:00 p.m.
