Area Bank Robbery

Ten thousand dollars is still missing following a bank robbery in northwest Missouri.
Nodaway County Sheriff, Darren White says three men are now in custody in connection with the armed robbery at Citizens Bank and Trust in Burlington Junction.
White says two armed men walked into the back door of the Citizens Bank and Trust in Burlington Junction just after 11 a.m. this morning.
White says he received a call from an Elmo resident, Bobby Smith telling him he saw the men.
While on the phone with the Sheriff, Smith saw the men leave the bank, get into a vehicle, and travel north.

White says his office was assisted by Maryville Public Safety, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Page and Taylor County, Iowa Sheriff's departments and the Iowa State Patrol.
Two airplanes, one from the Iowa State Patrol and the other from a private citizen in Maryville were tracking the men.
White says after traveling into Iowa, the men left the vehicle and ran back into Missouri.
They were captured in timber just south of the Iowa state line and west of Hopkins, Missouri.
White says officials have not yet located the guns used in the robbery nor have they found the money.
