St. Joseph Economy

USA Today has compiled a list of the Top 10 Fastest-Growing Economies, and a local community has found its place on that list.
St. Joseph came in as the seventh fastest growing economy, and is the only community in Missouri to place. According to the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce and a report by the U. S. Department of Labor, the unemployment rate in St. Joseph for 2013 was 4.8 percent, well below the national 7 percent, and even Missouri's 6.1 percent. President and C.E.O of the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce, R. Patt Lilly says that part of the success is due to the fact that St. Joseph isn't tied to just one industry.
This ranking comes right behind the news that St. Joseph is also ranked fourth in the nation for real gross domestic product growth, according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.
