The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission approved this week a new long range transportation plan. The plan was presented to the commission in November following a three-month review period where several meetings were held throughout the state giving the general public an opportunity to give input on the 20-year program. MoDOT Northwest Missouri District Engineer Don Wichern says MoDOT received good feedback from the public meetings.
The long-range transportation plan lists four major goals. Take care of the current transportation system and keep all travelers safe, no matter the mode of transportation, invest in projects that spur economic growth and create jobs and give Missourians better transporation choices. Wichern says MoDot will need increased funding to accomplish those goals.
