Feb. 25, 2014NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. | By: Pinney
Over 1,000 people have already signed a petition to publicly support a bill in the Nebraska State Legislature that would make the maintenance of Arbor Lodge State Historical Park a local duty.
Executive Director of Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce, Tim Pendrell, says that the bill would appropriate $2.1 million to Nebraska City to work toward the park’s reopening.
Arbor Lodge is the birthplace of Arbor Day, and Pendrell says the petition was a basic way to show support that they didn’t expect to progress so quickly.
The Nebraska State Legislature is scheduled to consider Legislative Bill 1033 soon.
