Chillicothe Retrial

A northwest Missouri judge says he expects to rule by
next week on a request for a special prosecutor in the third trial of a man
charged in the shooting death of a neighbor.
Thirty-nine-year-old Mark Woodworth, of Chillicothe, has been convicted twice
of murdering Cathy Robertson in 1990, but both convictions have been overturned
because of problems with evidence.
Livingston County prosecutor Adam Warren was appointed to the case last month
after a judge barred the Missouri attorney general's office from prosecuting it.
Warren told a judge Friday that he wants off the case because of his close ties
in Livingston County. He says the case has divided the community and that
someone with no connection to either side should handle the next trial.
