A new focus at community colleges across Iowa is trying to bridge the gap between the skills of job-seekers and the skills needed by employers.
Mike Hoffman is the executive director of continuing education at Des Moines Area Community College.
He says the school announced plans yesterday to put more funding into its Workforce Training Academy.
Hoffman says DMACC is joining forces with Goodwill Industries, which also works with Academy graduates on skills like resume-writing and interviewing to help with job placement.
