A Council Bluffs, Iowa woman is dead and two others are in the hospital after an accident in Holt County Friday afternoon.
According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, 58-year-old Ronald J. Vancamp, of Magnolia, Texas and 55-year-old Mary J. Curtis of Appleton, Wisconsin were northbound on Interstate 29, two miles south of Craig, Missouri, when they drifted off the left side of the roadway. Their car traveled across the median, and into southbound lanes of traffic where it struck the vehicle 59-year-old Lori J. Hartman of Council Bluffs. The two cars then traveled off the west side of the roadway, down an embankment and through a fence, coming to rest upright and still attached in a field, around 4:30 p.m.
Hartman was pronounced dead at 5:30 at the scene by Coroner Susan Lentz. Vancamp and Curtis were transported to Fairfax Community Hospital by Fairfax County Ambulance with moderate injuries. Everyone was wearing their seatbelts.
