Two accidents in Livingston County within 5 minutes result in two serious injuries yesterday. The first accident occurred at 6:20 a.m. as a tractor-trailer driven by 56-year-old Michael B. Butler of Bethany, Missouri was backing eastbound into a parking lot across Route Z, six miles south of Chillicothe. 43-year-old Marijean Meservey was driving north on Route Z when she lost control striking the freightliner. Meservey and 34-year-old passenger Niki J. Parr were seriously injured. At 6:22 a.m., as Meservey and Butler's vehicles blocked the roadway, 23-year-old Nickolas D. Mitchel of Bogard, Missouri was driving north on Route Z. Mitchel attempted to avoid the previous accident and side swiped Meservey and Butler's vehicle. Mitchel's injuries were moderate. He was transported by Livingston County ambulance to Hedrick Medical Center. Meservey was life-flighted to Truman Medical Center in Kansas City. Parr was transported by Livingston County ambulance to Hedrick Medical Center. None of the drivers were wearing seatbelts.
