Red Light Cameras

A recent ruling by the Eastern District of Missouri Court of Appeals weakened an ordinance allowing photo enforcement of red light cameras.

The ruling conflicted with red light policies in place. As a precautionary measure, the St. Joseph Police Department temporarily suspended its enforcement beginning last week. Captain with the St. Joseph Police Department Jeff Wilson says the red light cameras serve as a resource for deterring accidents.
