Iowa Veterans

Earlier this week our country recognized those who served in the armed forces.

For many returning veterans, finding their way back into civilian life proves to be a challenge. Executive Director of the Iowa Department of Veteran Affairs Retired Colonel Robert King says in Iowa, the gap in unemployment between veterans and the general population is almost non existent while national rates for younger veterans are around 20% King says one of the goals for his department is to help ease the transition.

King added that mental health is another issue for returning soldiers. He says there are various options for those dealing with anxiety, depression or PTSD.
