Nov. 6, 2013Buchanan County, MO | By: Coffey
Voters in Buchanan County overwhelmingly passed a quarter-cent sales tax to fund ambulance service for the county.
The issue passed by over 3, 000 votes and provides funding to turn the service over to a county-run, non profit board. Earlier this year, Heartland Health announced they would discontinue providing ambulance service effective July 1st, 2014. A half-cent ambulance tax in Clinton and DeKalb Counties also passed. Increased revenue from the tax increase will help fund updates to the ambulance fleet...and add more employees.
