Fire Prevention Month

Each year Maryville residents are reminded of fire safety.

October is national fire prevention month and the Maryville fire department is actively promoting fire prevention. Maryville Public Safety Fire Division Captain Phil Rickabaugh says this year's prevention efforts deal with home cooking.

Rickabaugh says the fire department also assists senior citizens and low income families with their battery replacement campaign.

The program has been in place for more than 25 years. Department officials change the battery's in smoke detectors in their homes. For more information on fire prevention month contact the Maryville fire department at 660-562-8001
