Fatal Accident

A Fairfax, Missouri man is dead and another in serious condition after a one car accident late last night.

20-year-old Damion J. Smith was westbound on Missouri Highway 46, five miles west of Maryville when he lost control of his 2007 Ford 150 and went off the north side of the roadway at 10:50 pm. He then overcorrected, and went off the south side of the roadway, striking a bridge. The vehicle continued down the embankment and came to rest on its wheels in the ravine facing west. Smith was pronounced dead on the scene, while his passenger, 21-year old Jeffery A. Wooten, was transported by ambulance to St. Francis Hospital in Maryville.
