Fake Kidnapping

A 24-year-old man was arrested by St Joseph Police Department after claiming he was kidnapped and being held for ransom.

The case began on July 24th when Taylor Hensley of Albany MO had a family member drop him off at an address in St Joseph. According to Commander Janice Rothganger, Hensley called that family member the following day and alleged he had been kidnapped for an $850 ransom.

When Hensley's family member contacted police, according to Rothganger, they were able to track Hensley to an address in St Joseph. When investigators contacted Hensley, he pointed a gun at himself. Officials were able to take Hensley into custody without further incident. Hensley was charged with a class C Felony for theft and is held on a $7,500 bond.
