Maryville city officials and the Maryville Chamber of Commerce held a special ceremony yesterday afternoon to open up another segment of a trail system in the community.

Yesterday's event was for a portion of a trail beginning just north of St. Francis Hospital and connecting with a trail which runs from the Maryville Middle School past the High School and through the Crestview subdivision. Maryville City Manager Greg McDanel says the new segment of the trail is a welcome addition for Maryville.

McDanel says 80 percent of the trail project is being funded by the Missouri Department of Transportation and adds more trails are on the way for Maryville.
