Local School Receives Award

A local school district is the recipient of an award given by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

The Savannah R-3 School District has received the Exemplary School Bus Maintenance Award, which is given to school districts and school bus contractors who have 90 percent of more of their buses pass the Missouri State Highway Patrol spring school bus inspection on the first try. Savannah R-3 School District has a contract with Durham Transportation to provide busing for the district. Durham Transportation Director for Savannah, Deb Martin, says they take maintenance very seriously, but it isn't their buses that set them apart.

Martin says the award also recognizes programs whose buses have met these criteria in five year increments.
