St. Joseph Police Hearing

The St. Joseph Police Department will be holding a hearing this afternoon.

For public comment on the 2013 Byrne Grant award received by the City of St. Joseph. $27, 946 was awarded by the US Department of Justice to the city, to be used by the police department. Sergeant with the St. Joseph Police Department, Larry Stobbs, says the money is vital in the purchase of equipment.

He says the amount of the grant is based on the type of crime in a specific area, and the population.

Stobbs adds part of the money is going toward a new computer server for the electronic crimes unit in St. Joseph.
